If I had $100g's and the real-estate I'd be down with adding that car to my collection. I've always liked its look, despite the lack of the iconic (however extraneous) hump.

It belonged to my friend Jim Powers, who passed away last year. I'm heading to the Mecum auction on Thursday to see it for the last time. There are six other cars that also belonged to Jim that are being auctioned as well, including a '72 Mark IV with 2,631 original miles.

Ah, the 2000s. When Lincoln made concepts but nothing else of interest.

Ah yes, I had a 2003 Town Car for a while, until it died of rust. I used to say "cancer", but that's too close to home these days. The car was very unremarkable. The one thing I did like about it, that not even my wife seemed to care about, was nighttime driving. It was just my imagination, but the Continental star seemed to be lighted when the headlights were on. Nice view while going down the road. Wayne

The click bait says that JFK's Ghia is being auctioned too. The claim is that it is in really good shape. I don't know what a Ghia is except that I had an old Karmen Ghia (spelled wrong I am sure) for a while when I was in college. (this is not it; this is a big car) Mine was a Volkswagen underneath all of the show and had a very forgiving transmission. I taught my wife to be how to drive a standard on it. One didn't even need the clutch most of the time to shift. She claimed she didn't like it anyway. The clutch, that is. She is still my wife. Wayne

Once in an awhile if I’m driving a new person in my ‘41, I’ll show them how skilled I am by shifting into 2nd and 3rd without even touching the clutch. But I’ll neglect to tell them that it has the Borg Warner Overdrive, and since it freewheels, you don’t need to clutch.

Just don’t forget to disengage it coming down a steep hill :o

The clutch linkage broke on my '68 Bronco when I lived in Edmonton. Opposite end of the city during rush hour, had to get it home without a clutch. Actually, not that hard, just took my time shifting, and held back a little at the stop lights. If I did have to stop, I shut it off, then cranked it in gear when the light turned green. The broken link wasn't my fault, the muffler guy had ground half way through it and I didn't know, just one of the reasons I prefer to do my own work.

Do you still have that Bronco, Fraser? If not, I bet you wish you did! Those things go for stupid money.

Sadly, I let that one go, just didn't have the room back then.

Internet showing it was built on the last generation thunderbird platform sporting the 3.9l v8 Jaguar engine. If you have ever worked on a Lincoln LS with the 3.9l you will truly understand my hatred for that motor. My wife had a 03 Lincoln LS with the 3.0 v6 Jaguar motor in it and was awesome. She ended up selling it on a note at our car lot 6 years ago with 165k miles on the clock, it's currently still on the road with over 300k on it.

The "Ghia" was a 1964 Imperial Crown Ghia Presidential Limousine used by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and President Lyndon Johnson. It sold for $181,500 including buyer premium.

Tim Howley did a writeup a few years back, The Mark X was built as a styling prototype and had no engine. Jim Powers, the designer, bought it from Ford, added the engine, and got it driveable.
