correct fuel pump heat shield color

Details such as correct colors, plating material, inspection marks, orientation, and even the number of wipes that should occur for a vacuum-powered windshield wiper system after pushing the "wash" button.

Post by whitealmond »

Hi, I am looking to find out the factory correct color of the fuel pump heat shield used on the 61 Lincoln 430 3 port fuel pump.
Can anyone help me?

I painted my 66 gloss black based on what I found under screws and remnants.

The LCOC Authenticity Manual only says:
A black uninsulated metal shield attaches to the pump by three (3) studs and nuts and serves to protect the fuel pump and the distributor from the heat of the radiator.
So gloss, satin, or whatever black you feel fits best is ok.

Satin is good, so is gloss. If you drive it, no one's gonna know in three years. My 63 is gloss, I think, but that could be a repaint by the fellow who repainted the car. See "Getting rid of my cheap repaint" on this forum a long time ago. Wayne

I can tell you that I’ve found this Duplicolor Ford semi-gloss to be a pretty good match for a lot of stuff. I’ve used quite a bit of it over the years on miscellaneous black under hood items.

My go to has always been tremclad / rustoleum. Although lately I've been powder coating more things.
