The modern Type A Suffix A replacement

Post by Solid »

Thanks for writing to us. My records indicate that Type A Suffix A was replaced by Dexron (B), which was in turn replaced by Dexron II and Dexron III. Yes, Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is a safe choice.

You will want to be sure your store doesn't send you home with Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP, however. This is a Dexron HP spec fluid and is not backwards compatible.

If I can help with any other questions, please respond to this email or call me at 1-800-ASK-MOBIL (800-275-6624).

Thank you for choosing Mobil,
Jim

Good to know.
I've always used Dex III in my 63 sedan and have never had any issues. I also fully drained pan and TC before adding Dex, as I did not know what was previously in there.
