Try some 0000 steel wool on the grille. You can get it at Lowes or home depot. Worked wonders on my bumpers

Thanks, I ended up using steel wool and mothers chrome polish. It's a bit shinier, and looks decent. Not gonna complain. One in worse condition on eBay is going for way more than I paid for this one :D

Another question. Inside the car, the trim around the opera windows, how does that come off? I grabbed an opera window while at the junkyard last year sometime because mine is scratched. I can't for the life of me remember if I took the trim off or not.

Getting some more work done.

Finally replaced the passenger side opera window. It was vandalized back in the day. I had to use a replacement from the driver side from a 74. Couldn't find any part numbers, but it fit. The retaining bracket was different though (not sure different because of year or side) but that was easy to correct. The rubber slides/pushes out. While I had it apart, I washed the whole thing in soapy water.

Little bit of throw back Tuesday.

Back when my Lincoln was black. Here she is next to my 58 Plymouth "Christine" hahaha This was circa 2004. Christine is gone but the Lincoln is still here.

Tonight's project. Seat material removal/swap.

Here's the reason for the swap. The exhaust shop super heated the floor and melted the bottom of the back seat. Just about caught the car on fire (yes there were brief visible flames).

And this is where I leave off for the night. It's supposed to cool down tonight, so I stretched the red leather over the new spring/frame so it keeps its shape.

Still have to attach it all. This'll be fun!

Started putting the cover back on. There are 2 rods that attach to the foam, then there are 2 metal thin rods in the seat material that attaches to the foam and rod. That was fairly easy. After the rods were attached to the seat frame, I had to stretch the material over the frame. I worked center out. Today I had a full day tracking down hog ring pliers, and hog rings. Found a few hog ring pliers but they were cheap Chinese and seemed very low quality for what it is. Finally found a set at harbor freight, but had the local feed store order me one they say is an American made piece. Now that I have done the back seat, I feel confident that I can tackle the fronts (re covered crappily)

Here's while hog ringing

Front side. Minimal wrinkling. Wasted 15-20 hog rings straightening the material. Live and learn I guess.

Hi Kevin,
Nice work on the seat cushion. Glad to see you back. I feel for ya. Code compliance is a PITA. If the code compliance officers there are anything like those here, they seem to have nothing better to do than to pick on people. The system here serves a two-fold purpose: 1. Revenue raising through citations, fines, and court-assessed penalties; and 2. Loss and/or forfeiture of one's car(s). Here, anyway, once you're "in the system" you become lunchtime conversation at the agency and they are always going out of their way to "check up" on you. Largely a waste of man/woman power and resources.
