Looking for BOOT (ACCELERATOR SHAFT): C1VV 9A873-B....

Hey Folks,

I'm trying to find an ACCELERATOR SHAFT bushing/boot C1VV 9A873-B. Does anyone know where to get one or two? I checked online at the usual suspects, but no luck. I also need the spring that holds it all (the shaft) in place.

I bought most of my parts from Baker's Auto. Some had to come from Classique since they were the only ones that carried the part- they are a last resort vendor since they suck.

I too have this issue; in fact, I'm pretty sure everyone with a Suicide has this issue, whether they noticed or not. I called Baker's Auto last year about this, and they said they did not have one, nor did they know where one could find one. And unfortunately, Rubber The Right Way hasn't done this, either.

I am clueless on where one could get a boot for the accelerator shaft. I had toyed with the idea of trying to pull a wasted one (one that at least still had some amount of intact meat to it at the cone end) from a donor and fitting some new rubber around the base of it, but I never attempted it. I don't even know if it would be all that effective anyway. The real answer would be for someone to reproduce it, but with things as they are today for private enterprise, who would?

But, if anyone has a clue or a discovery regarding this boot, please let the rest of us know. I personally don't like water or mud leaking into the cab at the pedal.

I bought a new accelerator boot for my car a number of years ago. I just checked and Lincoln land and they have them available, they are not cheap and they are special order at $75, but there are few options. When I worked on my car I tried looking up other cars to see if any would fit but did not have any luck.

LincolnLand? Really? Wow...maybe I should check into that. Maybe we should goose them into putting their supplier on notice for a massive slew of special orders. They'd be working hard, but they'd make a killing.

The best fix for this is to use a similar boot from a Mustang, Cougar, or other car and retro fit it. No one can see this part so it only needs to be functional.

I did look into the Mustang part since I knew they were cheaper but the design is quite different. I believe the throw of the throttle linkage is much farther on the Lincoln so the boot is an accordion style that was about 6 inches long as I remember. The mustang has very few folds for a short travel. I suppose you could try to make it work by enlarging the hole so the shaft slides in the boot- it would not be a tight seal but a far cheaper option.
The other big issue is I believe the base of the Lincoln accelerator is not flat (not 90 degrees to the shaft), it is at an strange angle because the shaft exits at the base of the firewall where it curves onto the underbelly of the car.
No other standard car boot had this type of configuration that I found.

Thunderbird is similar, always a straight 90 degree relationship. The thing about the Lincoln is the hidden accelerator linkage under the pedal that makes the shaft come out so low on the firewall. Here is the T bird setup:




This thread made me think (I know it is rare), Pontiac also had a similar pedal linkage and found this offering on Ebay, They also had a below the pedal linkage and this one has the angled boot. If the dimensions of the hole is close this could be a very cheap option. This one is for a 1950's Pontiac and I am pretty sure they used the same style into the 1960's:

Sure, they won't bolt right up, but with a custom plate, they might work in a pinch.

Those clutch rod boots look long enough to make the curve. I also just thought of the Pontiac accelerator that had a similar set up of the Lincoln with an angled boot. This could be another cheaper option. As I remember the base of the Lincoln is pretty unique and I think is more square than round.
