Hey Colin, thanks man. Yeah, she's going to be a beauty.

Yes, just brought the '73 home. It's another winter driver, eventual project. Will get some pics and more of the story posted in a separate thread this weekend. Good eye!

This has been the fun part...putting all of the best stuff I have collected over the years on this car; plenty of NOS and darn-close quality parts being applied. Getting there! Just a couple more visits to get the interior buttoned up, headlights together, final trim and bumpers.....then wait till spring while cleaning up the engine bay at home...

Gorgeous, Perry. That color is certainly dead on with the red/brown metallic. What are you going to do about pin stripes?

Perry: What trim molding did you use for the rear window and where did you get it? It looks great. Curt

The original two-tone "deluxe" pinstripes will be reproduced in paint, by hand. There's a fairly well known shop called Brush Brothers not far from me and this will be child's play for them. I'm really looking forward to seeing them back on the car in full vibrant color. It uses the two different colors and also the pattern extends to the trunk lid and the hood, very similar to the DJE/CS cars. See a couple pics below to give an idea.

The rear window trim - I still can barely beleive it but I actually found a salvage yard / resto shop in OH with an original naked top Mark V. I bought the rear glass moldings from them even though they looked horrible, sitting outside for 20+ years. They were about 7 different colors, crusty, really nasty. BUT, they were perfectly straight with zero dings. The magic was done by my friend Joe whom I mentioned earlier in this thread- same guy that polished my wheels (and something like 20 others over the years, forged dish as well as Turbines). He made a trough to hold the pieces while they soak in some sort of acid solution that essentially eats away the original anodized layer. Then polish, polish, polish.... So now they are simply bare aluminum and the look is amazing, I actually prefer it to the flash chrome look. Thanks for noticing, it's a neat touch. In fact, I'm kicking myself now for not having him do every piece like that, winshield trim, belt and drip moldings, etc... Maybe next year. The same two guys will be provided the skilled labor for the '70 Coupe that's up next for a repaint, and that one will have everything done this way. To me, the appearance is actually better than new, and that car I have decided is going to be black. It's cool when a black car has minty brightwork ;)

Ha! It sat parked in friend's barn for years after I bought it.... finally brought her home to start the strip down last summer. Once it leaves the shop, it will be 90% toward where I want to end up. The remaining 10% will take an easier pace and be some fun.

I'm pretty sure they're all listed in my signature now....the '73 was an impulse buy from a junk yard. They took credit cards for crying out loud! Still need to get around to posting some pictures...it's not as nice a starting point as the Mark V was, but a real Town Coupe with a nice leather interior. Will get it reliable as a driver, lots to do, then decide what to do with it....
