My 1963 Lincoln
Quick intro, Always loved the old slab-side Lincolns and for ages i would always say "i want a lincoln continental with suicide doors and airbags". Well funds finally allowed it and i was able to purchase my Lincoln a few months ago.
After some searching i found a 1963 Lincoln locally. My biggest concern when searching was that it ran since i would need to be able to move it on occasion and that it was rust free.
This is what i am starting with
Exterior is in great shape overall, few minor dents but nothing bad at all and most importantly zero rust
Interior needs lots of attention.
Quick Video of her running, it came with a 1967 462, that for some reason was installed back in 1970 (have the receipts) it seems to run very well, but i will be doing the timing chain soon.
Direction i'm going is, satin black, air bags on 22" rims, redo the black interior. This is going to be a driver, not a pristine show car, but just something that makes me happy driving from time to time.
Priority list.
1. Body (get it sanded and painted) since i'm painting it with a low sheen color, i am going to try and get away with using the cheap restoleum roller method.
2. Engine- get the timing gears replaced and clean it up a bit. Gas tank has been gone through and it has a new carb already so i am in good shape.
3. Get the interior cleaned and working. Windows needs some work, seats are torn and need to be replaced.
4. Suspension , i'm having a really tough time not moving this up the list. I found a local shop that is giving me a great deal on full airbag setup (FBSS) and i kind of want to do this now.
5. Drive it enjoy it and work on small stuff here and there.

Re: My 1963 Lincoln
looks like a good start, may I ask why satin black? I know everyone has their own styles but ive seen so many satin black lincolns I often woundered if the factory offered that as a paint color, lol. No biggie just my op thats all in any case it will still look good so no worries there...and yea pot calling the kettle black here...mine is satin...untill I paint it

Re: My 1963 Lincoln
looks like it, i was thinking maybe you had a edelbrock hiding under that edelbrock cleaner..
ohwell.
im gunna be mounting a edelbrock to my 462 within the next couple of weeks, and im trying to gather as much pic evidence beforehand in case im missing parts or stumble into an issue.
my current carb is DOA, and i cant be bothered to have it rebuilt.

Re: My 1963 Lincoln
not sure about the edelbrock, but the stock carb on my car seems to do pretty well, idles near perfect and runs well.
Few changes/ additions i have been able to do.
1.
New rims have been purchase with 265/30/22 tires (hope they fit)
2. I got all "new" window switches and now 3/4 windows work (although slow!).
3. Been working on the body a bit, lots of trial and error since i am trying to learn.
Began sanding the few dents down to the metal, added some filler and used some spray paint primer just in case it rained.
This is the color i will be going with, i painted a panel too see how i would like it and i must say i think its going to look great.

Looks like good project car to start with. Very curious to see how the Rustoleum paint job turns out... must be quite labour intensive with a car of this size...!

Re: My 1963 Lincoln
Actually that's a can of Tecate, not spray paint on the fender.

Re: My 1963 Lincoln
after the car sitting still for about a year (got hitched), i finally started to make some progress.
Satin was a lot more work than i thought, now i just have to either lower it or bag it.
