1966 LCC resto-mod conversion

The kit came from X2 industries (x2industries.com) it is beefy I just don't know if I would recommend it. The instruction are very limited only 15 lines and 3 tiny pics. Some of the bolt holes are so close to a flange that I had to cut the head down to get it in or switch to socket head bolts. It is not made for a convertible though it didn't say hard tops only. The upper shock mounts won't work with the verts additional bracing by the fuel tank, at least on the 66-67, 64-65 may differ. I am in the process of fabing up some mounts that will work. I am not sure how the exhaust will run looks tight, but that bridge is down the road. I am dealing with them right now because they sent me the wrong upper link on the passenger side, it is 2 inches short, Hoping to get a replacement soon.

I think you have issues regardless of the kit you buy. I like the fact that your kit has the upper mounts already welded to the body plate. That was the most time consuming part of my installing and takes all the guess work out of it. Hey if you need a tunnel, let me know. We didn't end up using the mobsteel tunnel because we didn't cut that much out and built are own. Pay for the shipping and it's yours!

Thanks smeeluv I may take you up on the tunnel cause I am going to have to do some cutting. Just waiting to get the upper link so I can put the wheels on and see how low it will go.

Sorry to hear about your issues. It's always something. That kit looked so beefy, especially the part that goes on and holds the bar mounts and upper bag mount. It looked really well thought out in the pictures.

I thought I had mine all dialed in but when it was on the rack today getting a new exhaust I noticed that the shocks look like the were getting compressed smaller than they were designed to be and the metal is twisted on the outside. Hard to describe, I'll post some pictures in my thread. I measured the distance and according to the KYB chart they should have about two more inches to go but guess I messed up somewhere. Now I have to make the lower shock mount lower so that the shock isn't so compressed. Oh well, the fun is in the building right? :dance:

Waiting on the replacement link to show up UPS says it will be here tomorrow. In the mean time I made my trans cooling lines and found an upper radiator hose that would work, thanks again to my NAPA guys letting me go through the hose racks searching.

Hose fits prefect, it's always fun to try to find one. Tranny lines are well done too, great work.
Question?
What are you going to do for a radiator since the stock one doesn't have any where to fill at? I saw you made the fan to fit so I'm assuming you're going to use the stock one? I'm asking because I'm still on the fence about putting in a more powerful motor and if I keep the stock one I'd like to get an aluminum radiator with a fill neck and ditch the reservoir tank for a cleaner look. I hate all of the clutter under the hood of these things.

I am looking at a degas bottle from 02-05 mountaineer, I think an 03-04 mustang will also work it is just bigger. Had the radiator shop put a nipple in the upper left corner of the radiator, and if you look at the lower radiator hose in the above pics you can see that I have a "T" in it with a 5/8 fitting for the lower line from the bottle. Going to order the bottle this week will post pics.

Oh and I had to trim some off each end of the new upper hose and the lower hose is made from the original town car upper hose. Going to have to make a list of what fits where and came from what.

She has about 2 inches of clearance at the bottom of the rockers. It still rolls without any contact to the tires but going to have to do some tunnel cutting, looks like I will being take up smeeluv up on his offer.
