After reading these posts I think this site should be kept "separate" from LCOC. If LCOC wants to dump their corner and replace it with a link to this site, great, but please leave this out from under their control. I don't want to have to pay $100 a year to access this site.

Agreed. That was my first thought about that. I think TLF.net works great as it is. It seems to be geared more for the regular guy who has an interest in all things Lincoln. I dont get the "family" vibe or camaraderie feel from the LCOC, as I do here on this site. I was a member of the LCOC, but I felt it was of no help or interest to me. I live in a rural area and all the meets were too far from where I lived to attend any. The publication they put out was interesting, but for the fees, that was all I was getting out of the LCOC. I have since let my membership lapse. :?

That was never suggested. I'm sure Dan wouldn't make the proposal if that were going to be the case.

What I've heard in the past is clubs saying "no access fees", then a year later they miraculously get put in place.

Well, I think the best thing to do is to take a poll of the members of this forum, and go with the results.

I think the final result will be that the LCOC links to this forum and our logos change a little. We'll go back to being the "official forum" of the LCOC.

That would be nice as the phpBB logo is kind of lame

Dan, this is easy to do. I run a vBulletin PHP bulletin board and the first thing I do is replace the stock logo. On your server there is a file at this location
http://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb3/s ... e_logo.gif
So just replace site_logo.gif with the logo of your choice. It should be about the same dimensions, must be named site_logo.gif in Graphics Interchange Format. The only downside is each major update in software may overwrite your logo with stock, and you just need to repeat the procedure.

Run a logo contest if you want.

Yes, here's the thread:
http://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb3/v ... go+contest

And I like this idea of combining the forums.

We did. But I don't really have the skills to coordinate a decent makeover. Nor the time or motivation to make it look the way I want. I prefer using a templet. But templates get screwed up when there is an update of the phpBB software.

Combining the forums is the way to do it. I have to research if I can merge the databases of posts and users. I want to continue using this forums servers due to traffic, but the LCOC's web host gives much more space because it is on a shared server.
