Wish I could go, but have to work that week and no way to get off. It's a pretty easy drive from Detroit to Chattanooga, did it twice with the convertible on the way to Florida.

Doug and I are leaving Detroit Tuesday night at 6PM. We'll be heading down I-75 in my 1966 Convertible and stopping in Florence, Kentucky around 11PM to take a break. We'll be staying at the Clarion Inn.

If anyone is going to be on that path around the same time, give me a call on my cell (PM me for it or find it in the directory. My home number is my cell number.).

Anyone traveling I-75 near the Ky. Tenn. border there is some road reconstruction going on in Tenn near Jellico Tenn. Check the road conditions and if you want to detour around this you can get off at the Mt. Vernon, Renfro Valley exit # 62 in Ky. and take 461 to Ky 80 to Somerset, take the 914 bypass to S Hwy. 27 take it south to Helenwood, Tenn. take Hwy 63 east to I-75 and get on I-75 at the 141 exit, or you can take Hwy 27 to Chattanooga, both ways from Somerset take about the same time. And if anyone has any trouble in this area give me a call and I will try to help you...606 305-7410

Sharon and I have arrived, spare parts and all!

Room 4004. Nice rooms, very comfortable.

Had a great supper at a place called "The Terminal", it is next door to the main hotel lobby building (the hotel is a large spread out facility).

Weather was really poor today for stretch from London Ohio to Chattanooga. Heavy rain, saw three crashes, one of which happened moments before we drove by.

As dcm5652 stated above, when on I75 southbound, just after entering Tennessee (mile marker 160), the highway is closed. The detour is a nice drive through the backwoods of Tennessee. The detour is well marked and you are in a long line of cars anyway, so no one gets lost. The detour adds 30 minutes to your travel time, so plan accordingly.

Sharon and I are doing tourist things for the next few days and will hold on to our (donating to the club auction) parts until someone briefs me on what to do with them....we will aim to be at the hotel when registration begins at 3pm on Wednesday.

That's beautiful. Are you going to be at the meet?
PM me your cell phone and I will do the same (so I am in your contact list when I call).

Not sure what time we will be coming through the area, but since we are starting from Florence, KY on Wednesday, we will have plenty of time to finish the leg before we are late for anything (or too tired).

Out of simple curiosity, how are the venues/city locations picked?

The region hosting the meet and doing the work selects the location. It's a lot of work.

Danny, is the detour route you posted via the google link the same one Mike says is the official detour?

No the detour I posted will get you off the interstate before you get in the slow traffic of the detour and if you take this route your time to Chattanooga will be about the same as if the detour was not in place or if the interstate was open . If you stay on hwy 27 in Tenn. it will take you to Chattanooga on the west side and if you get back on I-75 in Tenn. it will take you through Knoxville ( lots of traffic ) and to the east side of Chattanooga.

Heading out tomorrow morning; will be there Wednesday (hopefully) mid day, depending on the weather. The rain Mike was talking about is arriving tonight in NJ....
