lol...the manual vacuum release valve. I posted on another thread about that. Its one of those things that when you fiddle with it, it looses all vacuum, but in time, dust and gunk gather and it seals itself up.

I know there is a leak there, but its not the only one, and not the latest one. I even pulled the dump valve out and replaced it with solid connectors, and still. Tomorrow i play with it and see. I built my vacuum tester, and put it through a test, and its holding vacuum for a few hours, so its enough to test to see how each component holds. Ill post pics

A little update...

I found the MAJOR vacuum leak. I pulled the vacuum actuator for the headlights, and i couldnt tell until i was playing with it and shaking it around to realize that the diaphragm is shot. So another one is needed.

In the meantime, im using a bungee cord to keep the covers down during the day lol...i know i know...

But the fact that the covers were down made Lorelei look sharp, and after i detailed the interior and engine bay, we won our first trophee for the year (kind of late, but its been a rough year waiting on parts)

Tomorrow i should be heading to Lead East with a few friends...Lorelei will be the newest car there :D since they only take 72 and earlier..should be fun

i will be getting a new motor next month (waiting for a pay check lol)

Until then, shes determinted to piss me off....she started leaking fuel again, from the sending unit. Once the tank is lower in fuel, ill rtv the thing and done. Clearly the gaskets i got, even from bakers dont hold any fuel.

Its bad enough that i got 11mpg on the highway...I may still have bearing or sticking breaks, but i drove it and testing it this morning, putting her in N and coasting, on flat and various grades on the highway and she coasts just fine.

But if that wasnt enough...she just had to show me whos boss...the fuel gauge is dead as a door nail...and its not the sender. I connected the wires to my old, known working sender, and still nothing....

So yeah....knowing her though (several other things have done this in the past), the gauge will be fine tomorrow, and all attempts to figure it out will be in vain...she has "personality" like that....

BTW, I was going over the thread to check out your pics, and they're not showing. Were the original pictures taken down?

This is a good reason to embed using the forum's file attach feature. Don't expect facebook to be around forever. I predict irrelevance in 5 to 10 years.

I just got some parts, a new float, a low fuel warning switch, and a light knob....but it turns out its nothing like the one i have...

I ordered a 75 since its shorter, and i could have sworn that the knob looks the same...so now im back to square one...The shaft on my knob just wont come out..and i dont want to break it, so yeah lol...the joys of having to make new stuff from old stuff

Just bumping here (is that the word used on the internets these days?)

Sunday was Lorelei's birthday. She turned 41. So i took her out for a spin even if it was raining. At least no salt, all washed away. And she drove flawlessly :D

OK. heres a question for you guys.

I found out why i couldnt post new pics, im still under the 1024 pixel limit, but thats fine, there still big enough.

The question, is this. Should i go back to each post and update them? or just post anew, because i think i might be better remembering the photos as i see them rather than reading and trying to figure out which one is which.

Ill wait for you suggestions.
