Wow Norm, the car is looking amazing. I didn't realize you have the super cool non-diamond pattern interior, with original leather to boot! Glad to see things coming along well.

I need to get back to the South. The city I left is expecting mid sixties and sunshine... While I drove to work in freezing rain.Linc68 wrote:Spring has sprung in Georgia

Ya, fun stuff. My mom lives up in Rochester and said she spent a 1/2 hour just watching cars slide up and down University Drive downtown. I heard a guy from FL yesterday talking about the problems he's had adapting to a state with such a variety of weather. He was from FL.

I kept the pieces inside, in a clean spot in the basement, even wih all that , you're lookng at five iterations with lexol, it just keeps drinking it in, quite amazing actually.
All the window electrics are all sorted now, modern relays, modern switches, got some window weatherstrip coming to finish up the doors.
New antenna is in,new relay for it just arrived.
In the meantime, I now remember while I hated drum bakes....but they are done now

Re: My Ongoing 1968 LC Project
Well, some updates, been very busy, and trying to find all the time I can to get through the "punch list"
I think I am getting close, but from experience this is where you can get discouraged, scrounging for those crucial but seemingly unimportant pieces....
Starting to look like an actual car to casual observers now. As more things get attached the car is settling nicely on its new suspension, getting close to dropping in the tranny next then the engine, cautiously optimistic that my decisions on suspension are working out.

Re: My Ongoing 1968 LC Project
Opened the last big box of stuff this weekend and was reminded bluntly where this car came from, bumpers and bumper brackets....good lord did they look aweful...I knew the brackets were salvageable , but the chrome was covered in a green, hard, corrosion from the chickencoop's ammonium nitrate saturated ground...so under the logic...of nothing much to lose on the rechroming question, I declared defcon 5 and through the entire arsenal of cleaning solvents, scotch bright pads, steel wool and even a wirebrush to it..stuff that would probably melt today's plastic covered chrome.. I know....<<gasp>>
4 hours later....I guess these cars are a bit overbuilt....

Beautiful car. It will be stunning when it's done, no doubt. The color combination is one of my favorites too!
