If the floor back there and the frame end by the axle is still solid you could possibly repair it by getting new metal and cut a new side and bottom for it and weld it in.

I think that was what John originally hoped to do. If the subframe members could be fixed that way, then all he'd need to know is what gauge steel to get in order to match the steel used on the subframes.
