Cleaning Mark IV fake wood

Post by Goldstar »

Is there any product that replicates the sheen of furniture polish for the dash plastic wood? Looking for something to give it more shine.
Thanks,
Peter

The "fake wood" is vinyl.

ON all plastic, vinyl and rubber I use a Meguiars spray product.
A leather conditioner. It cleans just a little. But it is the conditioning part that is good.
Adds back some moisture to dried out plastic and vinyl.
Creates a shine as well. Just not a glossy shine. More of a semi-gloss.
And it is cheap (under ten bucks) and available on the net or even Walmart.

I go through a bottle in about 6 to 9 months. With the dryness in Phoenix and the number of vehicles I use it on weather strips, seat covers, instrument panel pads, door panels and anything interior or exterior that is rubber, vinyl, plastic or leather.

I agree that the spray shown above is very good, I used it for a long time and did not want to change!spam link deleted.

I find Meguiars #40 great for any plastic. It will NOT leave an oily film and cleans to a decent shine.
It’s not harsh on your skin and has a pleasant smell.

I used it to clean those black plastic harness clips on my 66, although the worst one’s I literally sandblasted, then sprayed with adhesion promoter and gloss black paint.

If you go to a show, spray it with WD 40 and rub it in. When you get back, use one of the products above. Wayne
