65 Convertible Knife Switch Problem

Post by Live2Ride57 »

The end of the lever of my knife switch is falling off the regulator roller when the window is lowered more than 7 inches using the window switch. Of course when this happens it screws up my auto drop/rise function until I put the lever back on the roller. Its as if the lever is too short or rotates down too far until it falls off the roller. Then when I roll up the window the roller can't catch the lever because its now out of the path of travel of the roller. The knife switch is securely fastened in place with the 3 screws. What could be causing this and what is the solution?

Your other options are the following:

Pat Teahan from Suicide Slabs (he's also on here but not as much) is making a new kit to replace the knife switches for 64/65 (so far). Video on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-nIKMpdZ3g

Also, has anyone used this replacement from Brewer? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-1965-Linc ... 1438.l2649

Just offering some alternatives although I'm guessing you want to keep it stock. FYI to others.

Read my post of a few years ago. It might be of help to you. I had a similar issue with my 1961, and my repair is still working.
