Post by John Mc »

Hi guys, can't seem to located a small bottle of touch-up paint for my '77 Town Coupe. Yes I know my auto paint shop can mix-up a quart but I need just a tiny bottle. Any ideas?

I didn't say this out loud, but get a bottle of fingernail polish. Many colors, very cheap. Wayne

I get my touch up paint there too. But don't be too disappointed in the color match. It's far from spot on because of the aging and effects of the elements on the original paint. Also, you may have already figured this out from other touch up jobs, but the brush in those little bottles is too big to do a neat job on small scratches or nicks. The tip of a toothpick or tiniest size artist brush with a pointed brush tip makes a ton of difference. Did you get the color coat/clear coat set (2 bottles) or just the single color bottle?

Glad you found your touch up paint. I do have a related question a previous owner touched up chips on my 72 and it is a mess? How do you clean up the excess paint ?
Thanks

For John: when my daughters were growing up they painted their nails every color imaginable including charcoal. We are just too old to imagine that. For "M": clean up can be accomplished with a small piece of 1000 grit )or smaller wet sand paper wrapped around the eraser end of a pencil...use lots of tape because you'll be dipping the pencil into water. I guess I'm too late on this, but I use Dr. Color Chip. I like the fact that it's not daubed on. I've had very good results with them.
