How do I check 5 pong relay is working or not?

Post by MrY »

Hi I just bought a Lincoln Continental Convertible 1962 - the top not working - I thought I start with checking all the relays
How do I know if a relay is good or not ?
They are the old style with a metal case and 5 pong with numbers 1-2-3-4-5
#1-#2 next to each other
#3 in the middle,
#4 and #5 is grounded to the metal case
and I guess going to the ground/body via the screw that holds it in place.
Do I apply power to one of them and cross connect them ?
or have a contiune powered check sound/light to know the power flow?
I don't have a shop manual so I dont know how to do this or where to start .
any pointers would help
thx
