Post here if you can provide authenticity info

Post by Dan Szwarc »

This is for the proposed 1970-79 Continental Information Manual.

Add your name to this thread by posting and I will put you on the committee.

Barry: 77 Town Car w/460
Saucy: 77 Town Car w/??? & 75 Town Car (no motor)
Spot: 77 Town Car w/???
wasagachris: 73 Town Car & 76 TC
Spot: 77 Continental Coupe w/???
Castrosua: 72 Sedan (Town Car or Continental?)

I'd say I need at least one or two of every car and model.

Please check the top post and see if I have the correct info. I'd like to know engine info (if 77 or later) and if your Continental is a Town Car or not.

Hi Dan,

I (sadly) only have my 77 Continental Coupe (without the Town trim, but the script on the vinyl roof (factory mistake)). No further Town Car !
It has the 460 and cloth Twin Comfort Lounge Seats.

I'm in with the '79 Town Coupe, 20K miles, moonroof, very clean in and out. Maintence items have been replaced; wires, belts, hoses, etc...otherwise original.

Could possibly help with the others in my signature, but they're not nearly as nice, yet.

Good idea - Thanks!

The nice thing about determining authenticity is that the condition is not really what's important. Original clamps, decals, markings can be observed on multiple cars. We're all going to learn how to spot an original part by design, style, etc.

Original plating materials can be determined by removing rusted bolts and looking underneath for portions of the original material. The type of corrosion can tell you if a part was zinc plated, galvanized, chromated, etc.
