Automotive Navigation

Post by 66Lincoupe »

I have seen quite a few posts here describing a location of a component in a vehicle: Left upper rear corner while facing the trunklid, right bottom seat while looking in the door from the driver side... etc.

There is a standard and it makes things so much simpler: all navigation and logistics are from the driver's seat facing forward. Most repair manuals are written this way. All Ford manuals are, but there is usually a picture so most people don't think about it.

So, something in the engine bay down low on the passenger side toward the bumper would be: Right front engine compartment; low.

John Muir wrote it the best I think: Front is front, back is back...
