News about -61 diskbrake coversion??
Any news on convert a-61 to disks, anybody done it? And what parts is required....i know the subject has been on the table before. But i haven`t found any reel answers! Please help!
I did it. It works great. I designed some custom parts, and put a LOT of research into finding the right combination. I have considered paying for a production run of the custom parts and offering a kit, but it's expensive. I figure about $950 for the kit - and that's only if I order a decent sized production run of the custom parts.
So far, haven't had anyone interested enough to make me feel I won't get stuck with a few thousand dollars of custom parts in my garage. Sorry.

Action,
I used the stock spindles. No modifications, cutting, or welding required. Actually a pretty quick bolt on.

Is the caliper a stock part? Are you proposing $950 for the entire bolt-on kit? Or is that just for the custom caliper bracket and rotor? The question of front disks comes up pretty often, seems like you'd be able to sell more than a few over time. I wonder why the Usual Suspects don't sell something similar?
The $950 is for a complete kit. Everything required at the wheels: brackets, calipers, rotors, hoses, bearings, seals, hardware, semi-metallic pads, etc. Doesn't include loctite and brake fluid.
A disc brake master cylinder and proportioning valve are also required.

I have tested the new brakes and they work great, although I have not measured before and after stopping distances. I designed for a stopping distance equivalent to road test data from the '65 Lincolns. The parts are sized to acheive that goal, but I have not confirmed. If it ever stops raining here, I'll see if I can find a spot to run the test.
I don't want to run afoul of the forum rules on this discussion by turning this into a sales pitch for the brake kit. I apologize if it's already gone too far down that route.
