Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition

If it is Lincoln-related and doesn't seem to fall in the other categories or you just can't figure out where to put it, put it here!

Interesting that they're still using photos of the prototype on the website. Here is the production version of the car, as seen a couple of weeks ago at the LCOC Eastern National Meet. Notice the position of the door handles.

Without question, the clap doors give an extra character to an otherwise bland-looking profile. Can't speak for the quality control standards, since I know nothing one way or the other regarding that, but it's nice to see at least a visual resemblance to Rolls.

Door handles look out of place. They need to be more adjacent to the front ones.

Interesting, Was this a Ford-owned display/show car or someone's personal car i.e. one of the 80 Anniversary Editions delivered to the public?

It was the last of the 80 Anniversary Editions, number 80.

Here is a youtube video of a production Coach Door Edition. This is what the Continental should have been when introduced as a 2017 model.

A 2019 Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition (#53 of 80) is being auctioned in Kissimmee, FL on January 11th.

This is the same car that had been posted on eBay a few times in the past couple of months but never met the reserve. I believe its highest bid on eBay was only $59,300. It will be interesting to see how it does at the Mecum auction.

High bid on the 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition Continental at Mecum was $100,000 but it didn't meet the reserve so...no sale.

Here is one on eBay located in Houston for $145,750. It's been on eBay for a while.

IMO, might as well buy the real thing. A beautiful 60s sedan with FiTech or Holley sniper and some other refreshed systems makes for a pretty cool daily driver.

This is the same car I referenced above.

I think the seller needs to rethink their $145,750 asking price as there are still also a few new "80th Anniversary" cars being offered for sale including one in Rhapsody Blue in Minnesota, one in Chroma Crystal Blue in Oklahoma, and one in White Platinum in Michigan...all for less money. If these cars were truly "sold out" (to retail customers) new, I guess a few people must have backed out of their orders.

This Lincoln,... went through our own rigorous inspection process performed by our Master Technicians.
Helpful to know. Thanks for taking the time to put that right up front in the description. I have bought more than a dozen brand new cars with less than thirty miles on them only to learn (after he sale) the cassette player, tires, map light and cigarette lighter were all worn out and in dire need of replacement.

The same sorts of things were being said about the 1960s Continentals which is a reason why, for example, one could buy a clean 1969 Continental sedan for around $1,500 (give or take) five years after it was new. It has long been argued that brand new or practically brand new cars, especially luxury cars, are a "waste of money" but fortunately for used car and eventual classic car buyers, MILLIONS and MILLIONS (over 17,000,000 annually since 2015) of new cars are sold in the U.S. each year to be snapped up as used/classics down the road.

It is still possible to pick up a slightly used 10 year old Lincoln for very little money, often cheaper than the ten year old Chevy impala sitting next to it on the lot. Wayne
