Shop Manual Scanning Project

If it is Lincoln-related and doesn't seem to fall in the other categories or you just can't figure out where to put it, put it here!

To give you an example of the cool stuff I am scanning, here's a peak at a 174 page manual called Here's How for the 1974 Lincoln Continental. It describes assembly process and tooling changes for the Continental from 1973 to 1974. It is dated October 1972 (and some updated in January 1973). It has cool pictures of how the front clip is assembled upside-down (I did not know this!) and other drawings of fixtures and processes used to assemble the Lincoln. It also lists design changes from 1973 to 74 and identifies areas of tweaked processes like more welds, different materials, extra bracing, etc.).

Each section opens with a letter form the plant manager in charge of each portion of engineering (Body, Trim, Paint, etc.).

I have never seen a manual like this before. It was printed for use inside the Wixom plant and there likely are not many copies in existence as managers would likely not have kept them from year to year. The original document is for sale so if you have a 74 Continental, this would be a great item to add to your literature collection.

It is, I just haven't updated the paypal link yet. If you want one, select the 66 manual and indicate in the COMMENT SECTION that you want the 67 Manual.

Dan-

I've got:
61 Manual
62-63 Supplement
63 Fold-Out (11x17) Wiring Diagram Book

All spiral-bound, all irrelevant to my 64. You can HAVE THEM if you can use them. Then put 'em on eBay and throw the money in the Forum Maintenance kitty. PM me your address if you'd like me to send these to you.

I'm in the middle of working on my '62LCC, so I need my books.
I will, however, scan everything I have and send it to you on a CD or DVD (depending on size).
You said 400dpi Grayscale; is that in searchable PDF format?

No scan is searchable in a PDF unless you use OCR. i don't and have never been able to find a program that actually worked well.
Just be sure to use greyscale and not black and white. Greyscale is beautiful and legible. Black & White is not. Images turn out terribly bad.

I appreciate any help anyone can provide. I am in the middle of scanning the 69 Shop manual. It might be done in a week unless I scan it on a weekend.

Dan, my manual and tsb's came in the mail today.

That spiral binding on the manual is the way to go.
It makes it a hell of a lot easier to read, and the page lays flat , so no more sticking a bookmark in it to find a particular page.
I think all service manuals should have come this way when they were made.
Big improvement.
Bob.

Got my manuals back last week. I want to echo Bob's comment about the spiral binding. Very handy. The CD is also a very nice addition. Thanks Dan!

I just spent 3 and half hours today scanning 69 and 70. 70 was a complete bitch! The paper was really thin and stuck to itself a lot. I had paper jams galore, but finally got it done.

Your efforts will pay off Dan as they are appreciated. Question for you....is the 69 manual(s) that you have include all FLM vehicles or are they just for Lincoln?
