How to confirm the year of a slab (62 or 63)

How to confirm the year of a slab (62 or 63)
I have 2 Lincolns both have papers. One is a driver the other is a parts car. According to both sets of papers, they are both 1962 Slabs. But I'm not sure. The driver has the rear of a 63 and the front end of a 62 (I believe). I think the parts car is a 62 at both ends.
I'm hoping to garner some method of determining the actual year. Any help appreciated. Here are some pics:

I have seen too much paper work that was messed up.
What number does the VIN start with?
the driver's door may have a warranty plate with a date code. What characters are listed?

Look at the VIN stamped on the inner fenders in the engine bay. It’s the only way to be sure.

The Lincoln driver car's VIN number is 2Y82H427572action wrote:What number does the VIN start with?
And the Parts car is 2Y82H400264
Sadly, I could not find one.action wrote:the driver's door may have a warranty plate with a date code. What characters are listed?
I found this useful page:
http://automotivemileposts.com/lincoln/ ... ncoln.html
And discovered that they are both 1962 4-door sedans assembled in Michigan.
Not sure what the Engine Code 'H' means. but that's relatively trivial.
As always, I appreciate the help.

Both VINs start with a 2 and both were made for the 1962 model year.

Unless the bodies have been thoroughly hacked, the radio antenna on a 62 is usually in the rear and on a 63 it is in the front. Don't know if this was a half year production change or not. Wayne

No, the antenna change didn't spill over into adjoining years--all '62s (and '61s) had theirs on the left-rear fenders, and all '63 - '65 models had them on the right-front fenders.
You definitely have two '62s; somebody in the past retrofitted '63 parts onto the one--probably to replace damaged original parts, and '63 was the only year they could find. Luckily, the parts swap right in, even though they aren't year-correct.

The engine would be a 430.Kritter wrote:The Lincoln driver car's VIN number is 2Y82H427572action wrote:What number does the VIN start with?

The assembly plant would be Wixom in Wixom Michigan. (Opened in 1957 and closed in 2007)
The parts car is a very early build. >>> 264th car scheduled.
The driver is a very late build. >>> 27,572th car scheduled.
Just over 31,000 Lincolns built for the 1962 model year

The driver '62 simply has a '63 deck lid thrown onto it. They're both '62 cars and if that '63 deck lid is in good condition, it could get you a pretty penny. The warranty plate on the '61/'62 is not located on the drivers door (it was moved there in early/mid '63) but rather on the drivers door hinge pillar at the bottom.
