Correct Whitewall Size for '64

Post by linc64 »

Got some new Diamond Back radials with the correct whitewall size today. My friend took the measurements from his original spare. He determined the width of the whitewall to be just under an inch at 29/32", and 1-3/16" from the wheel.

I love that color Jim! Beautiful! Anyone happen to know the proper white wall size for the '65? I'd assume it's the same?

Thanks,

very nice.. I always wondered if mine were correct.. they look very similar to yours but I think mine are just a tad bit wider.. what do you think? they are the tires that came with the car.. not sure if they're original

Yours are like the ones I used to have on my car. The whitewall is slightly wider than the original style.

@davidpeden, Thanks. I believe '65 was the same as "64

What width are the white walls on mine and your old ones? I am going to pick up some new tires tomorrow, American Classic P235/75R15 with 1.6" white walls... My original tires (the one in the pic) were Firestone FR721.. I want the same width white wall, not sure what the width on my original was

I don't remember what the whitewall width of my old tires was. When I first bought the car I put the Firestone FR721s on because I liked the slightly wider look. Now I prefer the look of the original, which is pictured above.
