1964 Lincoln AM/FM Radio - How Many Models?

Details such as correct colors, plating material, inspection marks, orientation, and even the number of wipes that should occur for a vacuum-powered windshield wiper system after pushing the "wash" button.

1964 Lincoln AM/FM Radio - How Many Models?

Post by 1964Sedan »

How many Model / Versions of the 1964 AM/FM Radio did FOMOCO put into market?

It seems that there are at least 2:

Version 1: The Black Faceplate has the AM Channels on top and FM channels on bottom accross the entire faceplate

Version 2: The Black Faceplate has the AM Chanels on top and teh FM channels on Bottom and there is a Square Indcator box in teh middle of teh faceplate. When an AM Channel is selected, a White AM is shown in the box. When an FM Channel is slected, a Red FM is shown in the box. There are 5 push button knobs. 3 FM and 2 AM.

Was there a version 3?

Please add any feedback to help clarify and verify correctness.

Not to my knowledge.
Now you have me curious. Is there a reason why you're thinking there might have been another version in addition to the two that you described?

Doesn't the 1965 version have the little window with the am / fm band indicator ? Also, don't the 1965 radios have the ability to "flip over" the preset knobs to be set for any combination of am or fm stations ? A feature that was not on the 1964 version.

The 65 indeed has the FM/AM little window plus the preset buttons flip over from AM to FM. I lost all this functionality when I recently had an Aurora conversion performed to the radio. I have yet to install this system. A 2020 project for warmer weather. I wish I had a heated garage!

Just to be clear, there were two radios for '64, Bendix and Motorola. The Bendix has no window that displays AM or FM, and the push buttons cannot be rotated. Three FM buttons and two AM buttons. The Motorola radio has the AM/FM window and the same push buttons as the Bendix. The '65 radios all have the AM/FM window and rotating push buttons.
