To which model year belongs this hood ornament ?

Details such as correct colors, plating material, inspection marks, orientation, and even the number of wipes that should occur for a vacuum-powered windshield wiper system after pushing the "wash" button.

It is for a standard Lincoln 1958-60. The 1958-60 Continental Mark III, IV, V had the four point star we all know, the Lincoln Premiere and Capri models had the eight point star.

continental hood ornaments are 4-pointed. premiere's had 8-pointed ornaments. that's for 58-60 years. not sure for years afterwards.

The original Lincoln brochures show this round hood ornament for the 58 Premiere/Capri.

But the ebay auction says this ornament belongs to the Premiere, thats why I'm wondering...

I think this ornament belongs the the 59-60 Lincoln (the prior Capri) & Lincoln Premieres

Spot,
Are you still looking for 1959-1960 Lincoln Ornament, the 8 pointed star type?

so there are three different type of hood ornaments for 1958-1960? wow

the Capris + Premiere are the low models correct?

and the Mark series (1958-1960) are the most expensive?- and they are have the basic 4 pointed design while the cheaper lincolns get a more ornatre hood ornament?

did the town car series get its own hood ornament as well?

My family bought a new, base model 1960 Lincoln coupe in 1960 and it had the eight pointed star hood ornament. IIRC the "base" 1960 Lincoln model was no longer called the Capri , it was simply referred to as the "Lincoln". The step up was the Premiere. The only external difference in the two models was a small, rectangular plaque on the lower front fenders behind the wheel opening on the Premiere. ( Not sure about the spelling, it may have been spelled "Premier").
