Re: Where are people getting new Michelins with WWs?
I've had no issues with Discount Tire, but Doug did with his Hancooks. mine are three years old and have over 15K miles on them so far. I'm gonna need new tires in another 5 years if I can keep up my 5K per year mileage pace.

Whitewall tires
Any still available other than Cooper? I got them recently (Trendsetter) and they are terrible, hard riding and they sound like snow tires (but quieter than the Goodyear Decathlon (??) that were on there before). I am thinking of possibly trading them in for another.

Re: Whitewall tires
Hancooks. They have a fancy black sidewall, but are otherwise OK tires and cheap.

Re: Whitewall tires
2 for Diamondback Tires. Great tire, but pricey. Whitewall will NOT yellow. Also, can get additional road hazard warranty.

Re: Whitewall tires
Diamondbacks are the way to go. Had them on a few cars and worth every penny. Bought my last set through discount tire for the same price online.

Re: Whitewall tires
My tire guy said Cooper wasn't making whitewalls in 225/75/R15's any more so I got an off brand (supposedly made by Cooper). Get ready.......the sidewall reads "Eldorado Golden Fury", pretty funny, right? Anyway, thery are sort of the right whitewall width, but the whitewall is sort of yellow...can't get them as white as they should be. The tire looks ok and handles fine (soft) and were only $475 installed, but I just don't like the color of the whitewall.....don't buy them

Re: Whitewall tires
LOL that's a good brand name, but wouldn't it be easier to just call it Cooper? BTW, I have the same issue, the whitewall on 2 of mine is turning brown around the edges and I can't seem to get them white...

Re: Whitewall tires
The one place online that showed this tire and size as available called me back and said Cooper has these on backorder but *does* have plans to manufacture more units in another 60 days or so. I dialed around my local shops and found one place that had 3 left in this size ($98 each after CA taxes and fees, before mounting).jeffmounce wrote:My tire guy said Cooper wasn't making whitewalls in 225/75/R15's any more so I got an off brand (supposedly made by Cooper)

Re: Where are people getting new Michelins with WWs?
Waking up this 2 year old sleeper. Anyone have a recommendation or experience with a currently available one inch whitewall tire? No need for classic bias ply, I seek a 15 inch radial for my '63 slabside. I now have 0.75 inch Kuhmo whitewalls and they are annoyingly noisy. So a quiet tire is also sought.

I use the Hankook Optimo H724 tire. Has a whitewall is cheap, round and holds air.
I bought a set in 2015 for one car and 2016 for another and have not driven either very much.

Re: Where are people getting new Michelins with WWs?
I just put Toyo Extensas on mine last fall. Slightly more expensive than the Hankooks, but no busy sidewall to deal with, either. Rides nice and quiet.

thanks for the quick replies guys. I find this tire on ebay but the ad seems to say that it is a 5/8 inch whitewall. Are they available in 1 inch white?
