Updated: '61-63 Authenticity manual: Ready for order!

Details such as correct colors, plating material, inspection marks, orientation, and even the number of wipes that should occur for a vacuum-powered windshield wiper system after pushing the "wash" button.

Updated: '61-63 Authenticity manual: Ready for order!

Post by bnorwood »

Has anyone heard anything?

Dan?

Doug Mattix - did it show up in your mailbox???

Can we at least get SOME official acknowledgement that this project is moving forward?

Once again, can I please volunteer myself and my time to help get this done?

Again, I hate to be a pest, but I've been anticipating this thing "next Fall" ever since I joined LCOC in 2000!!!!!!!!

I am ready to begin re-assembly, and I'd like to get it right (and BTW, the previous suggestion to buy the '64-'65 manual and pray that the differences are minimal is totally unsatisfactory, and a poor dodge of the issue).

I know the guys working on this are volunteers. I have volunteered to help. Let's at least get some reportable progress made!!

Hi Brad,
I haven't heard anything, and have given up on it. Doug's number and e-mail are in the LCOC Directory.
In the mean time, start putting your car together and ask questions. There are a number of people here that have a pretty good idea of how things should be. You could also contact past trophy winners about their cars.
I don't know how they've been able to judge cars all these years without a manual. I guess it doesn't matter. :stick:

The official word is...... ( ).

Yup. No target date. No deadline. No idea. No one wanted to discuss it at the Mid-America meet.

Did anyone bring the issue up? I've also been waiting--stopped being a member of the LCOC because of it.

Well, with the new Documentation Library forum up, we'll probably have our own authenticity manual up before the "official" one comes out. :D

Actually, I brought it up. And Nubs response was basically that he's been asking for it for 5 years and hasn't gotten it. He personally is not working on it. I volunteered to help and have not been contacted yet.

With an all volunteer organization, it's hard to push the issue. I think Gordy Jensen is the lead on the project.

Stu, with your '63, Brian's '62 and Chuck Goode's '61, we don't need a manual!
By the way, many of us have volunteered to help (I even spoke to Gordy on the phone), and our help has been rejected. I'm so fed up with this, that I am now withdrawing my offer to help. I've had it. I, for one, don't care any more. :smt013

I have emailed numerous times requesting shipping costs for a 67 manual to New Zealand, as the webpage doesnt say anything about it or even if they ship internationally. I havent had an answer to any of the emails so I tried someone else and they referred me back to the same person, Nubs.

I have also given up on it and there is a manual for my year

If you still want it, you could have it mailed to someone on the board (myself or others) and they could forward it on to New Zealand.

Would anyone be willing to grab the 67 authenticity manual for me and post it? Preferably I would pay via paypal as it is just simpler for dealing with international transactions. I have dealt with spitter on herein anyone needs verification that I pay promptly etc.

Guys,

I'll buy the problem...at the board meeting in January. We'll get a date for completion, I'll meet with the committee and we'll call Gordy and have him send the stuff back to the chairman. Then we can set about finishing it. It's my understanding that there are minor issues concerning the '61 model year that are holding it up. Personally, I think that whatever the changeover date for the spare tire cover is, the credibility of the club takes precedence. We can note the discrepancies and fill in the blanks later.

It's gone far enough.

Barry Norman, is this a good enough reason to quit? We need all the Forum-LCOC members we can muster to make the changes that are needed to move the club ahead. Leaving ain't fixing.
