Predator 5.2L: 760hp @ 7,300 625ft/lb @ 5,000
462ci MEL destroys that torque curve with 485ft/lb @ 2800

Ford 7.3L gas would be a better fit (literally a smaller engine) but the torque still peaks @ higher RPM (and less ft/lbs) 460ft/lbs @ 4100

Steve has a point about that torque curve. I haven't grown tired of that jump from forty-five mph to seventy in my '61 when I step on it a little. Guess it doesn't take much to put a smile on my face.

Just sold my BMW 840 today to a guy from Toronto. I'd had it for ten years. Also I'm selling another sports car I've owned since 1991. It's time for them to go and I will also have more room in the garage for the Lincoln. I'm planning to get the transmission, driveshaft and differential all done in one swoop this winter. For a time there, I thought I'd never be able to get this Lincoln even semi-finished, yet it might actually happen from start-to-finish in about two and a half years total...... or not :)....... then no doubt other stuff will start needing attention......... like the exhaust, like ..... whatever.

These crate engines are great swaps: modern, more power, less pollution. But I suspect some people are saying to themselves, "why put in a new gasoline engine? I'll wait for a drop-in electric crate motor/battery package when one becomes available for a reasonable price." Personally, I'm a stock guy so I'm sticking with my 462 MEL, but I bet some other folks are looking toward an electric future.
