Ford legal department contact info for parts reproduction

Post by LithiumCobalt »

Considering having a Ford part reproduced that is difficult to find. Seeking contact information for division within Ford that I can discuss the project with to determine what hoops I have to jump through. Tried to get legal department contact information via the general telephone switchboard and all they would give me is a mailing address or fax number.

You are looking to reproduce a part and are seeking Ford blessing? (Like a licensed party)
OR
You are looking to reproduce a part and are seeking Ford's data (measurements) about the part? Or want their tooling?
Or some other thing?

If it is a licensing thing, (which would require a fee or a piece of the action) part of the consideration will be the agreement Ford has with other entities. Other entities may have an agreement with Ford that no other entity can reproduce parts of a certain restriction. Like say Dennis Carpenter has an agreement that only they can reproduce Ford parts for certain models or certain model years. Which may mean if the part you (or some one else) wants to make has applications on models that some other entity has a license you may be out of luck. Then you either do nothing or reproduce the part without Ford's licensing or blessing. (Many have and all copyrights have long expired on vehicles from the 1960s and 1970s

I always thought a part that should be reproduced is a spare tire clamp. The "J" hook and nut and other pieces are made. The clamp (pictured with a Tee bolt) is used in a lot of different vehicles of the 1960s and 1970s. It is a simple piece of steel bent a number of times with a hole drilled into it. Yet it is not made. I always wondered why.
