It is a resistor. It has a plug attached to it that connects to the temp regulator inside vehicle. This controls the air temp via the dash regulator lever.

I think this is the same car: http://lianarestorationsllc.com/1964_Sedan.phpDan Szwarc wrote:I'll have to dig them up, but I have pics of a 1019 mile 64 Lincoln owned by Tim Wilson.
It is the pinnacle of authenticity. The links previously shown on the forum are invalid as the pics were deleted from the host server. I'll find them and re-upload.

You're also missing the adjustable stabilizer on the front fenders to firewall. Each fender has a bar that extends from the front of the fender to the rear firewall. They pull the front of the fenders in towards the engine bay to make the fenders more rigid.
Sorry, I haven't looked up the exact terminology to describe what they are called in the service manual.

No, it does have those stabilizer bars or whatever they are called. I think you just missed them in the pix. However, I have seen an additional pair that have a screw adjustment on them. In the back of my mind I'm thinking those are only on convertibles or maybe a different year model?

Those tension rods are for convertibles only. Sedans did not have them.Johnny P wrote:You're also missing the adjustable stabilizer on the front fenders to firewall. Re: What's Wrong With This Picture?
Hi all - I have a 64 Lincoln Continental Convertible. Looking to find the decals that go on the air cleaner, and anywhere else in the engine bay. This car does not have A/C. I just repainted the air cleaner gloss black and thought it was a bit too shiny but now Im seeing all these other engine compartments where the air cleaner is gloss and it looks great. Do other pieces get painted a more satin black? Like those metal bars that are bolted to the firewall and fenders, I guess for stability? They look to be flat black in these pics...

I believe the red plate is the blower motor resistor block that provides for the lower blower speeds.

I know I’m late to the party on this, but that red plate is fiberglass and the component is the hvac blower resistor.
