Need advice on Engine bay cleaning

Post by 65linctdot »

So, I finally got the old 430 engine out and got a rebuilt 430 engine to be installed.
I want to clean out the engine bay area and all its components.
Any tips, products or advice would be appreciated :D

When I had my 59, I used kerosene to clean all the grease off the suspension, and used simply green on all the painted surfaces of the engine bay, then sanded and painted everything.

I hope Dan doesn't mind me always posting links to his website, but check the following like out. It is engine bay detailing to the extreme.

Hello Dan,
How did you get those relays so clean? I'm looking into an engine bay cleaning (engine and tranny are out) and everywhere I search someone has put a link to your website. Very impressive. I'm coming from more of a wire brush, can of spray paint, no compressor, no welder type arena. Don't even have someone like Doug to watch with delight.

So any advice would be appreciated. Especially that beautiful bank of clean relays.
Regards,
Festus
