74-79 Lincoln Continental Chrome parts interchangeability
I need these chrome pieces for my 76 Continental; front running lights, chrome strip below the trunk lid and both right and left rear view mirrors. My question is; is there any difference in these chrome pieces from 74 to 79. I've looked online and they look the same but its hard to tell.
Thanks

The front lights are the ones on the bottom of the front fenders

Still not sure what you need. Pics may help.
When you say bottom of the front fenders, I think of the cornering lamps or the front side markers. There is a nice, wide chrome bezel there.
I have an NOS one in my attic. Not sure which side.
I’ll see if I can find the parts in the MPCs.

There's two styles based on trim levels. 74 to 79 are all the same.

Here's a picture of what I'm looking for. I'm not sure of the name but the first one is at the bottom of the front fender between the bumper and the wheel well. The second is the strip across the back of the car below the trunk.
And also I'm looking for a set of non-pock marked rear view mirrors.
Thanks

Here's a pic of "The Big Red Machine", my 76 Coupe. Its an interesting car, a base model with leather red leather seats and a full vinyl roof. It has the wheel trim so which of the 2 styles of side running lights chrome pieces would it take?

When you say "below the trunk, do you mean the strip at the edge of the trunk or the PANEL beneath the trunk, AKA the fancy silver and red reflective portion in green below? It will be difficult to find ether, especially the panel. Only excellent examples recently wrecked will be in a condition acceptable to most and that is a needle in a haystack.Buckeye Steve wrote:The second is the strip across the back of the car below the trunk.
If you need the trunk trim, your best bet is taking it to an anodizer and having it restored. It will cost you about $100-$200. I have a source in the Detroit area I can refer you to. They do this kind of work all the time for restorers.
I see your 76 has the custom hump on the trunk. Not a factory option, but often made by coachworks companies for special delivery vehicles. I wonder what the provenance is of your vehicle.

Re: 74-79 Lincoln Continental Chrome parts interchangeabilit
Dan, the trunk in the pics is not mine. I just used it as an example. Mine is a regular trunk (in need of paint)
I am looking for the panel below or beneath the trunk, as in your second picture.
These parts are pock marked with many small holes from freezing moisture.
SO the front running lights are the same for 74-79 which is good. IS the beneath the trunk panel the same from 74 to 79?
I have a source tat has several cars from that period.
Dan, thanks for your help

MPC indicates 75 and up. 74 is different because the license plate was in the middle before they moved it to the bumper in 1975.
