69 Sedan Left and Right front turn signal interchange?

Post by MFE »

Are the left and right side front turn signal assemblies on a 69 Continental Sedan interchangeable from side to side?

Missed that.

Reproduction.

And I would ask the seller first about application before placing the order. These look like Mark lenses and the listing states otherwise

I need the right one but the one I found in a local yard is the left side. Right side not pictured. If they were interchangeable I'd go ahead and have them pull the left one. No big deal, it's only cracked, not broken, so not high on the list. Thanks guys.

Depending on how broken your lens is, you may be able to do a temporary patch to the break, at least to protect the lights from weather damage, until you find an intact replacement. With a piece of clear plastic and some clear contact cement, you can fill the spot that is broken...or if the broken spot is small enough, clear package tape may work also. Neither is a permanent fix, but it should keep the weather out until you find a good lens.

There is one yard in Texas I know of with two '68s; if memory serves, at least one had intact lenses. That year will work for what you need.

If it were me I would take frasern's offer.

And if you are looking at pre-owned (AKA wrecking yards) this is far closer.

So less at risk for just looking.

However they are not known for thrifty costs

As to keeping the weather out, if it isn't a daily driver, there isn't much weather in the Valley of the Sun.

I should be less impulsive with my posts! I haven't removed it for a proper inspection yet, so it may have hidden cracks. The rt. lens is cracked, but no missing pieces. it will be weathertight.
And right now, it's under a blanket of snow, because this is a long way from the valley of the sun!

Well, granted, where weathering that involves water-based precipitation is concerned, that is the case. :D

DVAP reminds me of another yard in Texas I know of, CTC Auto Ranch in Denton; they too have a lot of organ donors, to include "Suicide Lincolns," and they too are not known for being a thrifty resource. The last time I bought parts from them, they charged almost as much as though the parts were NOS and stated they could not guarantee those parts would work; at least they did work.

I was out to the farm today, and looked a little closer at the '68. Turns out it's the right one that's good, and the left that's cracked. Good condition, but a little faded. I took it out and brought it home, probably will put it on Kijiji, but offer it here first.

I'm just now seeing this, if you still have that lens, I'll take it. Also I got a shocking introduction to DVAP's pricing on a few different items I was looking for, suffice to say, you can't make money on parts you never sell. JFC they're out of their minds.

DVAP will sell most of their parts. They do rather well with the two yards they have. They have been in business for decades. I sure would like to know where they get their donor vehicles.
They are a little negoiatible in person. Just a little.
And they are typically at the high end of the market as compared to anyone else. However, many times in the used parts department, they are the only one that has that kind of part. And they have SO MANY cars. Thousands!!!!!
Still there are many times I just wait for someone to list what I want on Ebay. And I have bought a few things there. Just not many even though they are a 10 minute drive from my office.

It is in the for sale area of this forum with a disassembled picture, selling it as a unit, as the housing is valueless without the lens. The one from Mark II will be cheaper to ship, but is just the lens. I can send better pictures to your E mail, but posting them here is really hard! Send a PM if you want that.
https://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb3/ ... 04#p411587
I also put it on Kijiji, in Canadian $
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-other-auto-part ... 1596543163

A friend, who winters in Arizona, has bought parts from DVAP for his '66 F 100, and was quite happy with their pricing. Perhaps the not so rare stuff is cheaper, or, he was comparing to our local high priced junk.
And, for the record, Ebay prices are just as crazy!
