what is the correct color stain for the wood door panel inserts on a 1963 lincoln

The original wood was walnut...a light application of something at the ace hardware store nearby me called "Special Walnut" comes pretty close. Best to hunt for walnut veneer itself. I learned too late that the aluminum backing is reversible. This makes the job easier according to others, I simply sanded the old stuff down and glued the new veneer over it, Wayne
