64 sedan Back speaker panel mounting screws

Post by msloquet »

Hate to bug people with the old screw size questions. Anyone know the size of screw that mounts the back speaker panel there are six of them.

Thanks

Sorry I can't tell you outright, Mark; but in case nobody does, I can tell you a way to find it out yourself. If you have at least one of those screws, take it to a hardware store and try matching up the size and thread pitch on cards the stores should have at or near their bulk-fastener sections. Once you can screw in that screw properly with no issues into one of the holes in the card, you'll know the specs.

Here's a tip. Go to your local hardware store's bulk screw section. The area with the pull out drawers that hold those flip lid, compartmented boxes of screws of various sizes. Go to the drawers that have automotive trim screws or at least look for sheet metal screws with oval heads. Pick a length, like 1" and buy one of every size between # 4 and # 12. Get a small piece of cardboard and poke the screws in it putting them in size order. Mark the size next to each screw and keep it near your toolbox for reference.
