PAINT CODE or Body Tag location 1966 continental convertible
Hello,
is there anyone who can tell me where I can find the paint code for my 66 continental and/or where should the body tag be, which has that code on it?

The tag is (or should be) on the driver door above the latch. The paint code is on there. So is the axle code serial # etc. are on it also. If you can't find the paint code on line post the letter of the code here and we will tell you. Or take a pic of the tag and post it.

Your shop manual will tell you what the codes mean.
VIN TAG from my 66 convertible (minus the Serial number of the VIN).
(Click to embiggen). The VIN should be obvious.
The rest are as follows:
Body
Color
Trim
Date
DSO
Axle
Trans
And since I'm feeling particularly helpful, here's the two pages from the shop manual that decode it.

Hello Dan,
Awesome, thanx so very much! specially for the pages. I am still waiting for my shop manual to arrive. hopefully it will be in my mailbox on Monday or Tuesday.
you must be very knowledgeable about lincolns, I see you are on many postings with answers, even on the one with my brake valve questions. Very helpful info for a "Lincoln newbie"...........

You're welcome.
I started this forum in 2000 as a way to get answers for myself and bring Lincoln owners together, helping each other.
The rest is history (and mostly searchable).

Aha, so your the Captain of this ship, lol
Are there ever "meetings" for just Lincoln owners in the USA? It may be very hard for some people to get there because of the distances.
I come from a small country and "USA car meetings" are very common. Usually a place to make life long friends and ways to exchange stories about cars (specially when gasoline runs through your veins instead of blood)
I appreciate your help very much. thanx again!

Dan has been great on maintaining the forum and answering questions... I'll be glad to answer them as well, I've been doing exclusively 61-67 Lincolns now for 35 years as a fulltime biz. However I'm 'old school' and like to discuss the involved stuff over the phone...(813)390-1950 9AM-9PM Pacific time. Enjoy the ride!

I've been doing this Lincoln stuff since 1998, personally, but John makes me look like a newbie.
He's your convertible man, among other things.
As for Meetings, there is a club for Lincolns of which I am a member since 1992.
http://www.LCOC.org
We have three big car shows each year in the USA called Meets. They should be described somewhere on the LCOC web site.

Re: PAINT CODE or Body Tag location 1966 continental convert
Dan,
I am buying a 1966 Lincoln. I could not find the stamped VIN on the front left Fender apron. It looks like it should be under the washer fluid bag? Am I looking in the right spot? Any help is appreciated. Is it true that the warranty number is usually the same number as the VIN? Which means the drivers door tag warranty number is the VIN? I found a reference to the location being on the right front fender apron which I hopefully attached- successfuly.

It’s there. Look harder.
https://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb3/ ... er#p272398
The VIN is the Warranty number.
PS: your car is out of warranty.
It’s actually on BOTH sides on the inner fenders.Dan Szwarc wrote:It's on the inner fender ABOVE the right front suspension arm. It is supposed to be there.
It's also on the door jamb of the driver's door.
