Door handle Gaskets

Post by DaveyC »

My paint and body guy is starting to put back all interior and exterior hardware on my car. Mu dumb ACE did not realize that it took so long to order certain weather stripping (doors) and also door handle gaskets. The door gaskets are a huge importance right now because I want to finish inside door panels, etc.. Does anyone have any information on where I can find these handle gaskets stocked. Lincoln land said they were about 4-6 weeks out...yikes! Any information is appreciated as always!

Did you try Baker's auto?
Ebay also sometimes has sets for sale, they are not ridged like the originals, but will work fine.

I think 'rubber of the gods' on eBay offers these. A forum member posted a set for sale a few weeks ago.

Are they still around? I was going to post that as a suggestion, but when I tried their website (from an invoice when I bought a set in 07), it said page not found. Google turned up zip also. ??? There was no phone # on the invoice either.

Rubber of the Gods changed its name to Rubber the Right Way, and they are still around as of 2021. Their rubber gaskets are not ridged.

Rigid would be plastic.
Rubber is not rigid to start with

Ahh, but the door handle gaskets are indeed ridged in the original factory presentation. One wonders, though, did years of sitting there under the handle create those ridges? I ended reusing mine, even though I had a new set. If I could think of where they might be (for a 63, though), I would send them to you. I suspect that they have fallen into the vortex.

Steele Rubber sells them. Not sure if they're ridged or not.

The originals have a ridge. It’s molded in. They are not rubber, but a firm type of plastic.

They can be reused. Just clean them up and paint them. Use adhesion promoter.

The Steele gaskets appear to be of hard rubber, could be plastic, and they have the ridge.
