Mark V project

Post by jjdavidson »

This might take a while.
My MarkV is missing parts here and there, so restoring will be a challenge. So my first target is just to get this beauty back to the road. Let's see how it will go.
starting here couple days ago ...

First you might want to remove the thing under it.
That will get it in the road!!!! ;)

Since you got it "on the road" ……..

The total production of Mark V (in all variations) for model year 1978 was 72,602 with an introduction date of October 7, 1977.
Your unit number of 823352 mean it was the 23,352 unit scheduled to be built at Wixom.

Next step is to get it to be self propelled "on the road"!

Love the snow in the background! Ours is almost gone here in Maine, but too soon yet to get out the old 63. We have to endure mud season first. I also suspect that an antique car on the road just might attract the attention of the authorities. We have a stay at home mandate from our governor. Wayne

I'm guessing that you might be referring to the "package Shelf", but of course nobody would really put a package on it, especially if they wanted to see out the rear window, or perhaps use the brake pedal once in a while. Not sure what that mystery box is, but Mark people will know right away. Wayne

Inspection continues...
I found ignition module.. wire A and B don't go anywhere. I think they should go to some altitude pressure sensor (which i don't have..) And C (red wire) is just broken.
Question is: Will it work without altitude sensor (if i can fix wire C)?
New modules are $19.33 or $23.87 at RockAuto

That is a DuraSpark II ignition module.

Most modules have a red, blue, white, black or green grommets and two sockets
The yellow with three sockets is not one I have seen a lot of!!!!!

I would replace with the correct module. Either two or three socket as needed.
Does the vehicle wiring harness have 3 sockets?
Two socket modules have one connector with 4 wires and the other with 2 or 3 wires.

If the additional socket is for an altitude sensor and one is not connected the engine may operate weird at times.
