Hi Jason
Have my column out still. You know I didnt even use the set screw. I had to hammer that tractor supply part that Wilson recommends with a big socket. What is the part number or source u used for the small rubber grommets or bushings at the column control and trans. I need those.
Thanks
Mark

Mark,

We linked up in email correct? Just making sure. If not let me know.

Progress on the '64 kick panels. My homie Paul is helping make it happen. He made the templates for the back on Friday. The wood pieces will be used to make the speaker grills from the mesh material which I ordered on eBay. You have to make it and then stamp the mesh to make the sides bend back... I'll show more pics as we make progress. We will wrap them in color-matched vinyl in the end.

More progress thanks to my buddy Paul Lane.

This piece allows for the speaker grill material to be pressed and formed

Paul came by one week night to figure out the angle of each pod. He uses hot glue to keep the pod in place until he gets home and better secures it

He sent me these today. Time for him to get sanding

Are you planning to use the mold and make these for sale to owners of the 64-65s? Nice custom work.

Thanks, Robert. Man, I wish... I just don't have the time and resources to make it happen right now. Maybe in the future.

Paul has more sanding to do to make them as perfect as he can.

All 3 pics are from last night. This is the icing on the cake. The grills came out so nice! Can't wait to see them upholstered! His woodworking and router skills are awesome. He is self-taught and been doing it for years. Thankful he is my friend and hooks me up.

I installed these in my Lincoln. I have an am/fm 64-65 Lincoln radio I had Radio Guy Bill in Shelton, WA do an aurora conversion on. It connects to my phone via bluetooth in addition to picking up radio signals which my stock unit was quite weak on station more than 10 miles away. . I bench tested the setup but haven't installed it yet. Just too cold in the Garage. Waiting for June.

There isn't going to be many people that know where Shelton Wa is located.
Not only do I know where it is located, I used to own a home on the big lake at TimberLakes.

Robert,

Those look super nice! Sounds awesome on the radio. TC uses a place I think down here where they update the internals to Bluetooth etc. as well. Such a great idea. I debated about doing it but I'm going to leave the stock AM in the car and then run a Bluetooth connector right into the amp.

This is what I ended up buying: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MH ... UTF8&psc=1

There are cheaper ones on the market and I've read the pros/cons on many but opted to spend about $20 more for JL hoping it will function well. We shall see.

I want to have Nick at Slab Shack make me a center console but I have a good bit of things to attend to first.

Action, you are a Shelton, Washington insider. haha. I used to track my Ducati at The Ridge racetrack in Shelton. Very nice racetrack.

Jason, let me know about that JL bluetooth device. I considered that option with an amp also but eventually went with the Aurora conversion. Of course I may never know if I dont get the radio installed. The metal grilles are a nice touch on your system. Do you have enough clearance to use the E-brake? It is tight on the left side and limited my choice of speakers to very thin/shallow ones.

That track is about 10 years old. I left about 20 years ago.
It didn't exist when I was there.

Robert, will do. Yes, when Paul came by with the hot glue he was getting the angle right on the grills to ensure there were no clearance issues. Originally we were goin to move the hood lever over a tad but he was able to work around it. Thanks for the good word man. Really appreciate it. This is the mesh I used which is the thickness recommended in a YouTube video Paul watched! https://www.ebay.com/itm/CCG-UNIVERSAL- ... 0384849892

The same seller also has black avail. More to come as I picked up the vinyl and hope to have Paul finish them in the next couple of weeks. I'll be working on the car today running power wire from the battery to the back for a junction stud. I'll use this power eventually for the ViAir compressors, amp(s), etc. More to come!

Updates

A high level video highlighting the new kick panels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsHnhEKrjsc

Paul hooked these up and bench-tested them and said they sound fantastic. We are going to be tuning the amp tomorrow night and I'll post more video soon! I'm working on a step-by-step video of the install. After I picked them up from Paul I wasn't able to install them until the weeknd. I took a video along the way. I don't think the sill plates were ever removed from the car. A good bit of work to mount the circuit breaker in the engine bay, run the 2 gauge "welding wire," speaker wire, etc. 2 gauge wire as the compressors for the air suspension will also tie into the distribution block in the rear. Oh and the color is something I wanted to match the seats. Eventually, the interior will be done and I want to deviate from the factor color some. Don't worry it will be classy.
