My 64 Project. Phase 2: Air Ride.

Post by burnski »

well guys, I've had my 64 since November and since then have probably put 500+ hrs into fixing all the broken / not-working stuff, as well as upgrading all the safety & hazard things that we know plague the 64's.

A few of things I have knocked off the list since purchasing my 64: Edelbrock 1406 carb, new timing set, high volume oil pump, rebuilt 3-port carter fuel pump, shift tube bushing, rag joint, solid steering box bushings, starter, starter solenoid, rebuilt power steering pump, 140A alternator, XS Power V3400 battery, electric fan, rebuilt brake booster, dual master brake cylinder conversion, all new brake lines, electric booster fuel pump, restored all power window motors & switches, converted to electric locks with keyless entry, keyless trunk release, cut/buff/polish/wax the paint, pulled out a few dents, Kenwood headunit in glove box, 6x9 & 4" speakers, new window belt weatherstripping, rebuilt fuel level sending unit, converted amp gauge to volts, exhaust manifold gaskets, rebuilt signals & headlight switches, petronix ignition, taylor spark plug wires, and probably several dozen other things that arent coming to mind at this moment.

Well it is now time to begin Phase 2 of of my 64 build. I ordered the Stage 4 air-ride kit from BC Fab: http://www.bcfab.com/Complete-FBSS-Airb ... _1195.html
bcfab4.jpg
it includes: Air Lift Dominator airbags, AccuAir VU4 4-way Valve Manifold, dual Viair 480 Chrome Compressors, Dual 28" Seamless Aluminum Air Tanks, -AccuAir eLevel Ride Height Control System, 4 link rear end conversion, and all the associated hardware. WOOT!

Once everything shows up in the next week or two I will post pics of the build. EXCITING!!!

You need to take a break from the cold this winter and come to Texas. I got a few things to do to keep you working on a 64

HAH I know right. I wasn't going to place my order until December, but BCFab had a sale this past weekend so I couldn't resist. My wife is worried im going to run out of stuff to do by January and be looking for my next project already by then

You are making a great car. Are you planning on putting in new foam in the seats? My 65 is in desperate need to have foam which is disintergrating as yellow dust on the floor. But the price tag is as high as your level 4 for material etc except I have no skills to do it myself. Its great that you can do this work yourself.

Actually my seats are in fantastic condition other than a few missing buttons so I'm leaving them alone.

The BC Fab kit is awesome. I have the stage 2 kit with the Choppin Block front kit since I needed to replace all my bushings anyway. It came out great.

Excellent to hear. I going to replace the front control arm and strut rod bushings while I have the front apart. Will likely add the choppin blocks control arms next year when I do my disc brake conversion.

It begins. Just getting it up on stands in my tiny garage is a challenge. Good thing it's off the road until spring so I have no reason to rush.

You are like a jack rabbit with a wrench burnski. That whole suspension will be done by Christmas and you'll be sitting there itchin to drive. You'll have to take it out on a frozen lake and do some drifting!

Lol yup married. She doesn't mind though, because before the car I worked on the house. She'd come home from work and I'd have a wall down. Lol. At least now the construction is limIted to the garage

Been busy today. Got most of the rear end together, relocated the electric fuel pump, relocated the brake line, removed the rest of the exhaust, plumbed as much of the board for the trunk as I can until my second tank & fuse block arrives.
