My 62 Conti
I just thought I'd share some pics of my Lincoln that I picked up in the beginning of March. While searching the site I learned that I should get the best car I could to start with and this is what I chose.
So far I removed the electric fuel pump that it came with and installed a Carter 3 port that I had Then & Now rebuild.
For now I'm just cleaning everything up and painting certain parts in the engine compartment until I save enough money to get a new paint job. The body has some real small rust spots but I wanna do it right buy sanding it all down to the metal. I'm really scared what I might find when I have it done.
Thanks for looking.

Great looking car! How cool to have an old slabside on the islands! Usually it is just hundreds of the same style rental cars- what island are you on?

Leave the paint alone, especially if it's original. Use the paint money for some stock wheels
and wheelcovers: THEN it will really look good.

Smart looking car. The colour combo is spot on. Have fun with it.
I agree with Jerry though... original white-walls look better! Check out the difference in these before and after shots:

Wheels are a personal choice, I do not think they detract from the car since it otherwise is in very nice stock condition. Most younger guys like the big wheels which give it a meaner look. No one will then give them a bad time for driving grampa's car. I love the look of stock, but I also like the new wheels. I agree, if you are going to go with the large wheels, the car does look nicer lowered

Re: My new 62
Thanks for all of the replies. The car looks real good from 10ft. But when you get up close you start to see all the flaws. The car is an older resto but was not painted very well. Thats the whole reason I wanna take care of the paint and little rust spots. I might go and put the stocker rims and tires on. I already have all of the hub caps for the car.
I'm starting to redo the interior wood trim. So far I have done the rear door panels and think it came out real nice. I'll post some pics in a bit on how it’s turning out. I bought sheets of walnut veneer and I'm taking my time trying to do this. I'm sure the dash and glove box are gonna be fun.

Re: My new 62
Those inserts are beautiful. I just learned that 66 and 67 door panel inserts are actually screen-printed aluminum.
Yes, they printed a fake wood pattern onto an aluminum plate to simulate wood.
As much as I would like to make a real wood insert (which would be very easy), I must stay stock. I am looking into reproducing/replicating it.
