1966 67 68 69 front brake hoses (alternates)

Post by jaydee »

Order through your local auto parts store

Wagner BH64845 or F64845

Significant savings vs. ordering from the usual vendors.

Admin Edit:
These parts cross reference to the following:

FORD MUSTANG (1967 - 1970)
MERCURY COUGAR (1967 - 1970)

one more stupid question from me...please confirm the rubber line unscrews from the junction box on the caliper bracket....

I assume the answer is "yes", but don't wish to screw it up.

For the record, this is how they look when attached to the calipers.

Should I have to change the nut on the hardline; cause it no work with the flex lines I just got from the local parts store AND the piece doesn't fit up through the mounting bracket on the strut tower...

I have no idea. John recommended them. I bought mine from the usual suspects.

Is it too small for the hardline? Too big?

The bracket is keyed and the hose will only fit through it one way. Then you rotate it slightly and apply the clip.

Purchased the F64845
Look just like the pic you posted
The lines are not keyed on the hardline side. In fact, the barrel on the female side is too big to fit through the "keyed" bracket; hardline nut is too small to thread into the barrel. That got me to wondering if a larger nut is typically used for this size hardline now days. A bit frustrating in that this really shouldn't be so complicated. The male side fit right into the flare fitting on the caliper, but both ends need to be connected for it to work! LOL.

I ended up purchasing the SS lines advertised on the forum and hope to have them by the weekend to install. Fall is NOT the time for this car to be parked in the garage!!!

Stainless lines showed up today and I got right into it as tomorrow is gonna be a great "top down" day.

I had to modify the bracket just a bit to accept the non-keyed barrel on the new lines. Actually, I ground one side down (right side) and the other side, just opened up the bracket with my dremel.

I can confirm that the notch in the end of the brake lines is NOT present on the WAGNER brake lines (nor the Dorman one, either).

I inspected my Usual Suspects-purchased replacements and the notch was ground by hand.

So, for 150-200 percent markup, you get the notch added.

I ordered 4 Wagner lines today from Amazon Prime for $42. Yes. $10.51 cents each. I think the Usuals charge $30 plus shipping.

Just sayin'.

I just got my Wagners from Amazon. Chris was right about the flared end. It is not 3/8-24. It's 7/16-24 threads, which means you either have to use an adapter and bend and modify your lines, or you have to flare on a new 7/16-24 fitting for your car.

In addition, you have to grind off the edge to make it fit. And my Wagners appear to have steel ends, instead of brass. Not critical, but just making a note.
