Acceptable booster leak down '64

Post by washmaster »

What is the acceptable amount of leak down when vacuum testing the stock brake booster? I mityvac'd down to 20"hg and it dropped to 5"hg in exactly 6 minutes.
The pedal seems to drop some normal amount when 18" vacuum is applied. Video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xQP742XBxfWRNEGUA

I have never seen a spec for what you are asking.
And there may be one.
The spec you are asking about would be testing the check valve
Six minutes is a very long time if the engine was off and the booster stall had a vacuum signal

The only spec I have heard of if you are driving and the engine stalls out there should be enough boost for a couple braking applications.

Alright. I should note that the leak down test as I performed it did not include the T check valve.
