I need to replace the pinion seal o-ring of my 72 Mark 4. (87097-591 in the car shop manual).
I can find two different OEM numbers: B7A-4669-A and B7A-4669-B. Does anybody know wich is the right one?
Thanks,
Bert

Re: OEM Number pinion seal o ring 72 Mark 4
The basic part number of 4669 is a rear axle pinion bearing retainer
B7A 4669 A Fits 1972 to 1979 Continental with 9¨ring gear plus 1973 to 1979 Mark applications
There are a bunch of other non Lincoln applications
C6AZ 4669 A fits 1969 to1972 Mark with 9 3-8¨ ring gear
Axle tag codes of WFY A, B, D & E and WGC A & B
There are a bunch of other non Lincoln applications
I do not know what B7A 4669 B fits
The pinion seal is a 4676
For 1972 Mark the part number is D1UZ 4676 A
It is a double lip seal and works on both the 9¨and 9 3-8 axle
With not work on WER axle code

Hi Action, thanks for the answer. What I‘m actually looking for is the o-ring. It‘s about 5 inch in Diameter. I attached a foto.

The MPC illustrations shows the O ring as a basic part number of 4669
The application of that basic part number depends on the axle as stated in my post above
What is the axle tag for your application?

Re: OEM Number pinion seal o ring 72 Mark 4
Looks like the axle is WGA E4 in the upper left corner.
The 9 on the bottom means it is a 9"
Therefor the correct 4669 part for that axle is a B7A 4669 A based on the MPC
BTW the numbers just below and to the left of the axle code are 2 .75 which is the axle ratio - non-limited slip
The numbers letters in the upper right (2FA) are the date code
2 = 1972 Model year
F = June
A = the first day of that month
The numbers in the lower right are plant code numbers
