Front brake question for 1963

Post by Mike »

Are the front drum brakes supposed to be self adjusting on a 63? I changed the wheel cylinders and hoses today and noticed that on both sides there's no parts there for it just the adjuster at the bottom.

The front and rear drum brakes are self adjusting on the 1963 Lincoln

I recommend new kits if you can find them. My 62 conv., and the 63 parts car, both had a lot of mix and match parts in their brakes. I couldn't find kits locally, so wound up using the 67 rears as a guide to know what to re-install. I have since found the kits on this site, but at that time, I was in too big a rush.
On something this old, you never know what has been done in the past.

Yeah I've been down that road. Especially when something is already apart I'd rather replace stuff that's questionable instead of ignoring it and having to deal with it later.
