Alex 62 Continental project
Hi guys,
Today has been my baby first day running after 11 months of restoring. Engine´s been rebuilt, transmission works well, also gearbox, and power steering. Got new breaks and shock absorbers. So now it´s time for body & paint shop.
Finally I can see a light at the end of tunnel.
Cheers,
Alex

Congratulations on a lot of hard work! I think we need a picture of that engine compartment.

Re: Alex 62 Continental project
Sure, here you are how it was and how it looks now. Some parts will be removed to paint the engine compartment properly.
I like engine clear and clean so I removed the heating system as it´s quite hot where I live.
Also you will see that I removed the cruise control, I am not sure if I will install it after painting or not because I don´t use it very often, but like keeping
the car as original as possible.
Still need to fix some small staff after painting.

Re: Alex 62 Continental project
I'm currently busy doing timing gear replacement. While waiting for parts I've been wire brushing and painting parts - all black - like yours. I haven't done the valve covers yet and I wonder should they be Ford blue, like yours, or black???

61-65 engines were all painted black. Nice progress so far though!

Re: Alex 62 Continental project
Hey Alex, that is quite an ambitious project. I missed this thread earlier... so a belated 'welcome to the forum' from me too.
Wow that motor was dirty... did it need a total rebuild? How difficult has it been for you to find the right parts in Spain? Here in Holland you can find next to nothing... I have to buy and ship everything from the US.
Cheers,
Reijer

Looks great, and its especially cool you're keeping it as original as possible. The '62 Lincoln is such a beautifully proportioned work of art in its original form. I'm glad to read that you've resisted today's trendy look of low profile tires, huge 20' rims and blacked out trim. Can't wait to see the results! Keep those pictures coming!

Re: Alex 62 Continental project
Hi Guys,
Car is ready for painting now. I am having a lot of problems with the color, I tried different original formulas and none of them look as they should look, so
basically I am looking for a nowadays car color, anything that match originals, which is almost impossible. Will let you know...
About parts, everything come from Estates, that means a lot of duties and shipping cost.
Cheers,
Alex
