It is good to see our Lincolns are finally bringing good money as they were fairly inexpensive compared to many cars until a few years ago. On the other hand it will make it difficult to buy a Lincoln for many who will be priced out of the market.

HAGI put forth an interesting definition of a collectable car: Regular cars are sold at price X and decline in value over time to zero or scrap value. Some cars bottom out to a minimum price and then over time regain value. They marked the collectable moment as when the value rose past the inflation-adjusted original price of the car. Graphically, that's a U-curve, and it becomes a J-curve if prices continue to rise.
1960s slabside Lincolns cost about $50,000 in today's dollars. #1 condition cars regularly exceed that.
