1965 Lincoln Continental Convertible - Top Tune Up

Post by bd94s10 »

Hello everyone.

Blair Farmer and I went down to my buddy Tom's place last weekend in South Florida (dual purpose trip as Blair had an outboard motor to pickup) and worked on his '65 convertible top. At first we thought it was just the decklid wasn't unlocking but we found it needed more work. Figured some would enjoy the pics of my buddy Tom's garage and what we did on the car. Tom has owned this car 20-years. When he got the car it had a paint job on it that looked like someone rolled it with a home paint roller!

Love bugs are BAD in FL during Sept and May!

Bottom line Blair had to swap 1 relay, we cleaned all the contact surfaces, spent some time really cleaning switches / checking limit switches. I learned a whole lot and had a blast doing it. This knowledge drop by Blair will no doubt help me on my new project that is getting delivered next week!

There IS life after John Cashman.

Congrats on the tune up. Did you lube the pivot points?

Normally I don't come to this category, but I do want to say good stuff! It's nice to see folks figure stuff out by employing good-ol' initiative.

Ahh, yes, Black Rain. I remember it all too well. That stretches as far as Louisiana at those times of the year, but it seems to have its heaviest concentration in Florida.
