Top up limit switch adjustment???

Postby Hani » Fri Jul 23, 2021 3:40 am

Long time reader, first time writer.

My rear roof parcel tray? panel doesnt sit correctly, everything cycles as it should and the roof locks but for some reason the parcel tray panel seems to sit back and high. I am hoping it may just be the top up limit switch needing adjustment but I was hoping someone could confirm if that would rectify the issue before I attempt the adjustment.

The trunk was left up when I took the pic so ignore that :)

Thanks guys!

Open the deck and put the top into the trunk with the deck open.

Look for a limit adjusting screw and what is called the rear top up limit switch. It shouldn’t be too hard to figure out which way to adjust it. Loosen them and move each a millimeter or two in the direction you need.

It should be shown in your shop manual. If you don’t have, please let us know what year your car is.

Hi Dan, thank you heaps! I have a manual but it's not very clear. It came with the car and it looks like it's a poorly printed reproduction.

My car is a 1962

Is this the correct switch?

I have 2 manuals and one states it is but the other doesnt show it at all, I've tried to adjust it both ways but it seems worse

Search for Jim Brewer and contact him For help.

Look for the adjustment physical limit screw. It should be somewhere on the cast metal section of the top frame. I don’t know 1962 very specifically, but 66-67 are similar. It should look like a hex bolt with a nut as a lock.

Hani - how long have you had your ‘62 LCC and have you serviced or replaced the convertible top electronics and hydraulics before?

Hi Mark,

Just a few months, no never been serviced but plan on doing that soon as they just started playing up last week. Just need to find someone in New Zealand that can do it

Boy, it can be hard to find folks in the states to service these old Lincoln’s. I have to imagine it’s far harder in NZ?
